Lindey Schmechel, PhD, LCMFT

Dr. Lindey Schmechel is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist based in Manhattan, Kansas. She earned both her Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Kansas State University in Couple and Family Therapy and her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Family Studies from the University of Washington.

Lindey offers a safe and inclusive space where clients are seen, supported, and celebrated. She aims to help clients of all ages be kinder to themselves through a combination of warmth, compassion, collaboration, and humor. Her therapeutic approach focuses on increasing empathy through understanding. She has experiences working with clients of all ages as well as individuals, couples, and families.

Lindey integrates a variety of evidence-based modalities in her practice, including Narrative Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Attachment Theory, and a variety of Play Therapy interventions and techniques. During her graduate schooling, Lindey pursued extensive trainings in a variety of topics, such as Sandtray Therapy, working with core beliefs of “never good enough”, culturally responsive treatments for suicidal ideation in children, and fostering resilience.
