Laura got her Masters in Social Work degree from Washburn University and her undergraduate degree in Family Life and Human Needs from Kansas State University where she also minored in Conflict Analysis and Trauma Studies. Laura is a Certified Family Life Educator through the National Council on Family Relations. She is also a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist and a Certified Trauma Professional.

She has a variety of work experience from working with soldiers and their families at Fort Riley, Hospice, a psychiatric residential treatment facility for children, and private practice. Laura is a veteran and has a heart for working with our military members and their families and the unique challenges that they face. She also works with people who have experienced all kinds of difficult experiences including front line responders and survivors of abuse.

She believes that trauma and experiences don’t have to define us and enjoys working with people to recognize their strengths and work to move past trauma and experience growth and living their best life. She works with PTSD, anxiety, depression, co-occurring substance abuse disorders, and trauma related disorders. She works with all ages from pre-teens to the elderly and uses a trauma informed approach and lens.

Laura accepts MCC Students and self-pay clients. She is in the process of being credentialed with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, Tricare, and Medicaid.
